The iShares Core High Dividend ETF (NYSEARCA:HDV) deserves continued recognition as one of the top dividend ETFs available. Its combination of strong returns, above average dividend yields, ultra-low expenses and portfolio quality make it a solid core portfolio holding for both long-term investors and those seeking monthly income.
With that being said, I'd like to see just a couple of minor tweaks to the portfolio. I know it seems like a bit of a curious exercise to suggest improvements to a fund that has largely kept pace with the S&P 500 since its inception and has done so with about 15% less risk looking at the historical standard deviation of returns. Given its current composition, I'd rate the fund a "cautious buy". Despite being a very solid fund in many regards, there are just a few minor adjustments I'd like to see before fully committing.
